Our Dance Lessons

Moonchild Dance nurtures children's creativity.

Apart from giving students an introduction to world dance that is rarely offered by other dance companies, structured into each lesson is a small block of time allocated to allow students to choreograph some of their own movements.

We respect our student's ideas and understand the importance of nurturing their creativity; therefore, we allow them the opportunity to contribute to their classes' dance routine.

Moonchild Dance also offers students the opportunity to discuss their ideas for 'costumes' for their big performance day. Costumes usually consist of everyday street wear students already have at home and can bring along, like skirts, jeans and black or white t-shirts, etc. The use of costumes allows the students to dress-up and adds an element of excitement for the students without having the need for parents to out-lay any additional costs. Students from years four and up will also discuss different facets of a dance performance like 'what makes a good performance' and important aspects to consider when preparing for a performance.

Music used by Moonchild Dance is approved only after language and content checks have been thoroughly conducted and completed. We understand children's excitement for popular, mainstream music; however, we also understand that unfortunately so much of this music has inappropriate content and language. Considering both of these aspects, we invest a lot of time in choosing appropriate, yet exciting music for our students.
